The Polar Ice Table is created from solid ash wood saved from the Emerald Ash Borer infestation and transformed into an heirloom quality piece of furniture. The inspiration comes from the unity of contradiction and harmony. The oval tabletop has a texture etched into the wood that resembles the broken ice floes from the Arctic. This etching is based upon a photograph of a car tire imprint left in the asphalt on a hot summer day.  The white pickled finish accentuates the pattern and transforms the pattern into ice floes breaking as they sail towards warmer waters.
